Our physiotherapists are New Zealand registered and active members of the New Zealand Society of Physiotherapists. They are dedicated to ongoing professional development through attending professional courses and post graduate study.

As an extension to our physiotherapy service, New Lynn Physiotherapy can offer a strong network of specialist physiotherapists, orthopaedic surgeons, general practitioners and medical specialists we can refer you to for multidisciplinary management of more complicated injuries.

Our team
Nicky Collins
Nicky studied Physiotherapy at AUT, Auckland qualifying in 1990. She has worked in the private practice setting both in the UK and New Zealand ever since. She started New Lynn Physiotherapy in 1997, originally located in The Doctors medical centre in Delta Ave, before moving into a larger newly refurbished clinic at 28 Delta. Nicky completed her post graduate diploma in Manipulative Physiotherapy in 1998 and has over 20 years of experience.
Her main areas of speciality include muscle balance assessment and treatment, gym rehabilitation, migraine treatment and physiotherapy /exercise during and after pregnancy.
Nicky enjoys the challenge of problem solving and treatment of musculoskeletal injury. Using many different manual therapy techniques, she loves the satisfaction of helping her patients to achieve the best results.
Nicky’s main interests include spending time with her family of 3 young children, running, fitness, travel and cooking.
Kiri Vertongen
Kiri has been working as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in private practices since 2003. She then completed a Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy with first class honours in 2009. This included a Post Graduate Certificate in Acupuncture. In addition to her physiotherapy qualifications, Kiri has also completed exercise prescription and fitness instructor certificates. Exercise rehabilitation is her main area of interest; she also uses acupuncture, dry needling, kinesio taping treatment techniques.
Kiri has a varied sporting background; she has been involved in many sports from social to representative levels. These include netball, surf lifesaving, boxing, road cycling, touch, basketball and cricket.
Damian Goddard
Damian studied Physiotherapy at AUT, Auckland, qualifying in 2005 and has worked in private practice ever since. Damian has been a member of staff at New Lynn Physiotherapy since 2006.
Damian specialises in sports injuries, particularly golf and soccer injuries. He has a great understanding of these injuries from many years of playing and coaching.
Damian enjoys the challenge of rehabilitating sports injuries from the acute stage right through the strengthening/rehabilitation phase and back to play. Damian’s main interests include playing sport, horse racing and music.
Christelle Van Der Merwe
Christelle studied Physiotherapy in South Africa qualifying in 2006 before gaining a Masters in Physiotherapy in 2007. She has worked in both South Africa and more recently New Zealand, where she is now a permanent resident.
Christelle enjoys both manual therapy and gym rehabilitation. She specialises in dry needling, kinesio taping and Pilates. Christelle enjoys treating a whole range of injuries from the less common nerve disorders such as Bell’s palsy to the more common headaches, back and neck injuries and breathing disorders such as hyperventilation syndrome.
Christelle’s interests include travel, baking, keeping fit and dancing.
Denise Edgerley
Denise joined the clinic May 2001. She brings her extensive administration experience from previous employment in the finance, publishing and medical professions to her role as Office Manager at the clinic. Denise loves working with people and the team environment at the Physiotherapy clinic
Denise was born in Australia and enjoys spending as much time as possible outdoors. She enjoys walking and bush-walking, kayaking, travelling and gardening. She also loves quality family time and being a grandmother to Lily. She enjoys creative writing and has had many of her poems published.
Her philosophy is that life is not for finding yourself – but creating yourself.
Lindsey Paton
Lindsey joined New Lynn Physiotherapy in July 2007 as part-time receptionist and administration assistant. Lindsey has had 27 years experience in various administrative roles, including seven years at Starship Hospital as medical secretary and prior to that various administrative roles at Greenlane and Auckland Hospitals.
Lindsey enjoys working in a caring customer service/medical environment with plenty of interaction with others. She also enjoys the challenge of balancing a busy home and work life. She enjoys training and taking part in group fitness classes at the gym and is a mum to two girls, Hannah and Kate.
She also enjoys socializing with family and friends – going out to dinner and watching a good movie, beaches and the outdoor life, loves to travel, and enjoys bush and beach walks with her Jack Russell Terrier. She has a great admiration for all working mums.
